Our mission is to build Enterprise SaaS tools for Power Utilities to help them keep pace with the Energy Transition. Our software connects digital twins across buildings, energy and transport to model and forecast energy demand across both short and long term time horizons. The platform future-proofs power grid investment decisions by removing the uncertainty of evolving customer demand in the face of mass electrification of transport and heating.
Current approaches to planning the energy transition rely on human-resource intensive consultancy models. This costs too much and goes too slowly. There is an urgent need for digital solutions which the team’s energy, data science and coding skills are well placed to solve. Power Utilities are underserved by spatial analytics solutions.
The team has worked for Power Utilities and knows the problem-set. The team has developed a high degree of product and technical expertise since founding the company two years ago. We have also developed expertise in building datasets using multi-industry datasets (prop-tech, fin-tech etc) to produce end-to-end coverage for energy transition energy planning workflows.
The Problem
The Netherlands has a critical challenge. I&C customers are not able to connect to the power grid creating a barrier to economic growth. Without power businesses can not grow and jobs can not be created. In response the Dutch Government aims to create 200 Energy Hubs in the next 5 years through the use of Constraint Management Contracts. An Energy Hub is an I&C cusotmer that has at least 100kW of connection capacity that they can make available to the DSO in a flexible way for use by other I&C customers. The regulator has set aside €166 million in incentives to support this new market. But the challenge is how to identify new Energy Hubs and guide the customer through the complex process of committing to a Constraint Management Contract without impacting their own business operations.
The Solution
The solution is LAEP+. LAEP+ is a software tool that allows customers and network operators to plan and design projects on the same platform, at the same time.
- Revolutionise the DSO-Customer experience with a data rich and visual interface
- Reduce the time to identify and plan energy hubs by 50%.
- Reduce DSOs operating costs by an average of €13.5 million over 5 years with a 10:1 return on investment
What makes us different?
Our solution is market leading and award winning. LAEP+ is used by half of all UK DSOs to improve the accuracy of their strategic demand forecasting and to reduce the cost of customer engagement.
Lead customer UK Power Networks have also just won an award from the international Energy Agency (IEA) that recognises the quality of their local energy system engagement using our LAEP+ tool.
The solution LAEP+ has three unique value propositions:
- First, a cloud based mapping engine to combine geospatial energy networks with urban planning.
- Second, a building physics and power flow engine to model new connections and retrofits.
- Third, easy to use workflows for energy system design created especially for non-technical users.
