gridhound GmbH

Description

gridhound is a deep tech spin-off of the E.ON Energy Research Center at RWTH Aachen University and has positioned itself as the leading AI start-up in the field of network state estimation for power distribution networks. In addition, gridhound offers various services and software solutions in the field of data quality management, analysis, planning and control for distribution system operators. The use of AI provides the energy industry with urgently needed data - especially for the operation and planning of today's and tomorrow's grid infrastructure. gridhound promotes the energy transition through its contribution to digitalization, automation and transparency in the distribution grid.

The Problem

Currently electrical power distribution grids mostly have barely and or even no measurements. The grid operators and planners are unable to determine its operating state and have to apply a huge capacity security margin for safe and reliable grid operation limiting the number and size of residential, commercial and industrial customers as well as renewable energy sources.

The Solution

We combine a minimum amount of measurements with other relevant and more easily available data in our AI-based distribution grid state estimation to provide the missing insight into the grid operating state allowing safe and reliable grid operation with a minimum security margin while avoiding a comprehensive, costly and time consuming rollout of measurement devices.

What makes us different?

A unique combination of equally weighted domain expertise in power systems, data science (including AI/Deep learning) and software-development. We also own a patent on AI-based state estimation.
